Our Story

Alpeí was born from a simple idea - Provide unique, high quality and fair-trade Alpaca Clothing, Organic Cotton Apparel, accessories and Handmade Jewellery handcrafted from the finest materials and made by the best artisan. 

Our business was launched in 2012 selling small artisan made collections from Peru at local markets in Sydney and shopping centres. Today Alpeí continues with their commitment to offer sustainable fashion products that have a positive impact in our communities and their environments. We are proud to say that we work directly with small manufactures and skilled artisans whom, for more than a millennium have been perfecting their skills to create the most beautiful products.
 

How It All Began

It all started with Doris Moreno’s (Alpei’s Co-founder & Head Designer) gorgeous handmade jewellery pieces and Esly Lopez’s (Alpei’s founder) enthusiasm for having the possibility of offering unique, handmade and high- quality products. In 2012, we started trading under the name of Alpa Clothing opening our first stall at Mosman and North Sydney Markets in Sydney, Australia selling our single handmade jewellery pieces and crafted organic cotton apparel.

In 2014, we took a different approach in the design and production of our collections changing our name to Alpei®. Our brand name came about by combining the main material we use to handmade our collections ‘Alpaca Wool’ and ‘Pei’ a native word from the Amazon in Peru which literally means leaf.
Alpei was created as a celebration of the extraordinary handwork and creativity we put into every product we make. Each of our products are handmade in natural and sustainable materials. Alpei combines the art of fashion and sustainability to create timeless, fresh and trendy designs.

Handmade in Peru under fair-trade and sustainable principles. We create unique single pieces of jewellery as well as apparel for men, women and kids handmade in alpaca wool, pima cotton and organic cotton. Our pieces are truly unique, from the design to the making process, each product is carefully handmade with the finest materials and in limited editions only. Our collections are effortless and modern with a touch of romanticism and bohemian style.

We create our products inspired by you and by people from around the world combining natural and simplistic flairs with colours and expressionism from our Peruvian ways. We create every product with great love and passion and we absolutely love seeing you enjoying what we make.
